A sizzling sell out at Crowne Plaza Queenstown
July 28, 2010
Staff at Crowne Plaza Queenstown are rolling up their sleeves for another charity sausage sizzle tomorrow (July 29).
The iconic Queenstown resort is selling sausages, hot soup and fresh bread every Thursday at 4pm outside its threesixty restaurant on Beach Street as part of a national campaign to raise funds for the Salvation Army’s Give a Family a Break, a charity that offers disadvantaged Kiwi families a holiday.
General Manager Matt Anderson said the generosity (and hungry bellies) of people in Queenstown made last Thursday’s sausage sizzle a great success so he was ‘fairly confident’ of reaching the property’s fundraising target of $3000.
“It was a huge hit last week with all sausages sold out within an hour. We’ll definitely have more stock this week and hopefully we’ll double our sales.”
IHG (InterContinental Hotel Group) New Zealand (which operates Crowne Plaza Queenstown) is working on the ‘Give a Family a Break’ project as part of a national Community Responsibility Project.
“The Salvation Army is the chosen associated charity of IHG New Zealand. It is a fantastic charity to support and we are all very passionate about raising money to give people a holiday,” said Mr Anderson.
Crowne Plaza Queenstown is also planning several Chefs’ Special dinners to be held at threesixty as part of the tasty fundraising drive. The dinners will be held in September with all proceeds going straight to the cause.
Throughout August, Crowne Plaza Queenstown will be selling special room nights and packages via auction on sella.co.nz. For bookings in August guests will also have the option of a room upgrade for $20 with the additional charge going straight to The Salvation Army.
Crowne Plaza Queenstown also has a collection box at reception for those wanting to make a donation, no matter how big or small.
