Wanaka’s trendiest late-night hang-out is to welcome music sensation Fernando Aragones next month for an exclusive evening of smooth acoustics, world-talent and uplifting hits. The renowned Australian-based, Brazilian-born singer songwriter is to play an intimate crowd of at Barluga on Wednesday 11 August as part of his unmissable New Zealand tour. His set promises to captivate the audience with an eclectic sound that fuses folk, funk, latin, reggae, roots and samba into an undeniably enchanting and original style. Fernando has been hailed by audiences and music critics around the world as having overwhelming sheer raw talent, transfixing the audience on a unique journey from stunning acoustic melodies to the folk style music of his native Brazil. His music is described as easy-listening with a strong samba influence, seamlessly blending lyrics from English to Portuguese in an enchanting infusion of expressive melodies. Fernando said his Queenstown performances last year were extremely well received and he was thrilled to be returning to the region. “I love coming to this part of the world, it’s so beautiful. There’s a fantastic cosmopolitan mix of people here who are all so friendly,” he said. “Playing to a smaller crowd enables me to interact with people and deliver a very special performance. At Barluga people can relax with a drink in a chilled atmosphere. It really suits the nature of my music. ” Currently based in Sydney, Fernando has extensively toured Brazil, Europe, New Zealand and the Australian East Coast, playing in a full range of venues and on TV and radio stations.
