Queenstowners to benefit from Ziptrek Ecotours Locals Day
February 12, 2010
Ziptrek Ecotours are extending an invitation to all Queenstowners to experience the latest adventure activity to hit town at mates’ rates next Sunday (21st February).
Locals can experience the spectacular two-hour flying fox operation and interpretative guided tour through the forest canopy atop Skyline Gondola for just $50 per person, with proceeds from each person going to the Wakatipu Trails Trust.
“The community has been asking for this day and the whole Ziptrek team will be on board for what we expect to be a very busy day. The fun starts at 9am and ‘zipping’ will continue throughout the day with great tunes from Q92 More FM and a sausage sizzle at lunchtime” says Trent Yeo, General Manager of Ziptrek Ecotours
The trip usually costs $119 and locals will need to bring photo ID and an addressed bill on the day to be eligible for the discount. ‘Zippers’ can either walk up the Tiki Trail or ride the Skyline Gondola (not included in the ticket price) to check in at the Ziptrek Guest Services tree on Bob’s Peak. Kaye Parker, CEO of Wakatipu Trails Trust says “We are thrilled that Ziptrek Ecotours have chosen us as their nominated charity for this fantastic family event, we are very proud of the work they have already done in the local community, particularly with the recreational mountain bike trails”
“We had a successful launch and a busy festive season and now the weather has finally settled into the summer we’ve been waiting for, we are very excited to see the season continue to grow as it has done,” Trent Yeo says.
The Wakatipu Trails Trust is on a mission to lead, advocate, facilitate and assist with funding to build a world-class network of linked trails throughout the lower Wakatipu Basin. The trail network offers locals a healthy, free, outdoor lifestyle, and an alternative non-motorised commuting option along some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the world. As important the trail network will open up a significant new tourist and visitor attraction bringing millions more dollars into the Wakatipu Basin.
